In what might seem to be another example of the use of the judiciary for political ends, the public prosecutor’s official (Fiscalía) is seeking a prison sentence for #RobertoSánchez over allegations of misappropriation of funds dating back to 2018. It wants him imprisoned for 5 years and 4 months over alleged false declarations to the ONPE (Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales) in 2018 and 2020.

Nearly five weeks after the first round and only three weeks before the second, ONPE has finally announced the results with #KeikoFujimori confronting #RobertoSánchez in the second. With only 17.18% of valid votes, Fujimori ended up in first place, with Sánchez beating Rafael López Aliaga in second place. Sánchez won 12.03% of the vote as against 11.90% for López Aliaga, a margin of 21,210 votes.
