Dopo due giorni di riposo, oggi la Lazio è tornata ad allenarsi a Formello. Sarri chiuderà l'anno senza Nuno Tavares, Taylor e Rovella, tutti e tre squalificati. Almeno rientrerà Romagnoli in difesa, prenderà posto al centro di fronte a Furlanetto se Motta non dovesse farcela ("sospetta lesione muscolare a carico dei flessori"). Da valutare anche le condizioni di Patric e Zaccagni, entrambi out per problemi muscolari. Il capitano dovrebbe lasciare la sua casella a Pedro, che per stasera ha organizzato una festa al Pigneto per salutare i suoi compagni di squadra prima della fine della stagione. Intanto l'Al Sadd ha di nuovo accelerato per perfezionare l'acquisto di Romagnoli. Il numero tredici biancoceleste ha il contratto in scadenza e già a gennaio era stato sul punto di andare in Qatar. Ora sono ricominciate le grandi manovre per portarlo al Qatar nella squadra che è guidata da Roberto Mancini. Sempre sul fronte partenze va registrato il probabile passaggio di Basic al Venezia neopromosso: il croato ha il contratto in scadenza e può accordarsi col club veneto che gli offre un triennale.

At least Romagnoli will return in defense, taking his place in the center in front of Furlanetto if Motta doesn’t make it (“suspected muscle injury to the hamstrings”). Patric and Zaccagni’s conditions are also to be evaluated, both out due to muscle problems. The captain should leave his position to Pedro, who has organized a party at Pigneto for his teammates tonight before the end of the season. Meanwhile, Al Sadd has accelerated again to finalize the purchase of Romagnoli. The thirteen-year-old Lazio player’s contract expires and he was already on the verge of going to Qatar in January. AGI - 19 maggio 1991, per i tifosi della Sampdoria una data memorabile. A 35 anni dallo storico scudetto Gianluca Pagliuca ripercorre quella cavalcata in un colloquio con l'AGI. "Quello scudetto è stato un sogno. C'era un entusiasmo incredibile, anche da parte dei tifosi c'era voglia di fare l'impresa. Un ricordo indelebile".
"Vialli è sempre con noi" 
Pagliuca in porta, "una difesa di ferro, una squadra fortissima e poi quei due lì davanti, Roberto Mancini e Gianluca Vialli...". Il primo pensiero va all'ex attaccante della Sampdoria e della Nazionale  "è sempre con noi, non lo dimenticherò mai". Il secondo a mister Boskov, "è stato fondamentale, un allenatore bravissimo, furbo, onesto, nessuno sapeva gestire lo spogliatoio meglio di lui".
"Alla Sampdoria eravamo tutti amici" 
E poi il gruppo: "Eravamo tutti amici. Era un vero piacere andare in campo, anche a fare allenamento. Non vedevamo l'ora di andare in battaglia. Preparavamo le partite con gioia". E poi "la domenica sera tutti a ballare. Avevamo voglia di stare insieme".
La vittoria con l'Inter il lasciapassare per lo scudetto 
Le partite più importanti? "Quella con l'Inter che vincemmo due a zero con gol di Dossena e Vialli è stata il lasciapassare per lo scudetto, la svolta. L'altra vittoria a Milano contro la squadra rossonera, con un gol di Cerezo, è stata invece la partita della consapevolezza. Ma sono tanti i momenti determinanti, la vittoria in casa con la Juve, la vittoria a Napoli con la doppietta di Vialli e Mancini... Poi la vittoria sulla Roma... E' stata un'annata strepitosa".

Come festeggiare questa ricorrenza? "Scriverò un messaggio sulla chat della squadra. Con gli altri ci si sente spesso, anche se ormai ci vediamo sempre di meno... Quel 19 maggio 1991 è stato un grande giorno. Il mio primo e unico scudetto, una gioia sportiva che non proverò ovviamente mai più. Abbiamo raggiunto un obiettivo storico. Adesso per una squadra di provincia è certamente più difficile emergere... Mi auguro ora che la Samp torni nella categoria che le compete, speriamo che l'anno prossimo faccia un campionato di vertice".

“Vialli is always with us”

And then the group: “We were all friends. It was a real pleasure to go out on the field, even for training. We couldn’t wait to go into battle. We prepared the matches with joy.” And then “Sunday evenings, everyone going dancing. We wanted to be together.”

The victory over Inter was the pass to the championship
The most important matches? “The one with Inter that we won 2-0 with goals from Dossena and Vialli was the pass to the championship, the turning point. The other victory in Milan against the Rossoneri team, with a goal from Cerezo, was instead the game of awareness. But there are many decisive moments, the victory at home with Juventus, the victory in Naples with Vialli and Mancini’s double… Then the victory over Roma… It was a phenomenal year.”

How to celebrate this event? “I will write a message on the team’s chat. With the others we often feel, even if we see each other less and less now… May 19, 1991 was a great day. My first and only championship, a sporting joy that I will obviously never experience again. We achieved a historical objective. The 2021 League Cup Final

Pep Guardiola’s team won the League Cup for a record-equalling fourth time in succession with a deserved victory over Tottenham on this day (25 April) in 2021. The London club had dismissed manager Jose Mourinho earlier that week, placing coach Ryan Mason in charge for this final. At 29 Mason became the youngest man to be in charge for a League Cup final.

City were the dominant team for most of the game, but the game’s only goal didn’t arrive until eight minutes from time. Aymeric Laporte rose to head home Kevin De Bruyne’s free kick.

After the final Pep Guardiola told the BBC: ‘That is what these players give for the future generations of this club. It is not winning [just] one title. This team in the last decade was the team in England – since Roberto Mancini won the Premier League, this team wins a lot of times in England. It’s nice, four Carabao Cups in a row, it means consistency in the team to be there. We beat Arsenal and Manchester United on the way so we can say we deserved to win this competition. The way we played was fantastic and it’s nice when you win a title. The most impressive thing is in the last 33 games we won 30.’

The victory meant City were now level with Liverpool on eight League Cup final wins and no team had bettered that success. Similarly no manager had won the competition more than Pep Guardiola.

In this Covid-hit season there was some positive news for fans as a limited number were allowed to attend the final wearing face masks. Stewards were told to actively look for fans taking them off and frequently they went into the crowd to ask fans to re-mask otherwise they’d face expulsion. The final attendance of 7,773 included around 2,000 from each club and a number of locally based residents. At the end those from Manchester and the neutrals present stayed to watch the Blues lift their eighth League Cup.

Dopo la disfatta della nazionale italiana di Calcio per la qualificazione ai mondiali, sfumata dopo la sfida persa contro la Bosnia ai rigori, si comincia a pensare al futuro. Non solo quello dirigenziale, che potrebbe vedere le dimissioni del presidente Figc Gravina, ma anche sportivo. Gattuso resterà ad allenare gli azzurri? Nella conferenza stampa post-match aveva detto che si sarebbe preso le proprie responsabilità e quindi è subito partito il toto-allenatore attorno ai papabili per la casacca da Ct. 
Secondo Sky sport, per ora in pole position siedono Antonio Conte, che attualmente allena il Napoli nel campionato di Serie A, e Massimiliano Allegri che invece detiene la panchina del Milan. Dalle retrovie, però, si vocifera anche di un ritorno di Roberto Mancini che trainò la nazionale verso la vittoria agli Europei del 2020. Una scelta, questa, che però pare meno probabile per via dei dissapori sorti dopo la scelta del Ct di andare ad allenare l'Arabia Saudita.
Per un Italia stufa di vedere l'ennesimo mondiale da casa, i nomi che circolano nella piazza sono quelli di grandi allenatori che possano offrire una garanzia. A patto che la stessa garanzia derivi anche da una squadra di giocatori che, si presume, verrà ricostruita.
