#Noirvember Watched “Ride the Pink Horse” (1947), a non-urban #FilmNoir movie directed by, and starring #RobertMontgomery as Lucky Gagin, a disillusioned WWII veteran out to settle a score in a New Mexico border town. It’s gritty and raw and engaging and you should watch it, too. https://archive.org/details/ride-the-pink-horse-1947

A ★★★½ review of Lady in the Lake (1946)

Robert Montgomery directs and stars as Philip Marlowe in this unique film noir. Montgomery only appears as Marlowe in the prologue and epilogue (and a few creative mirror shots). The rest is shot from his POV with Marlowe narrating. Business is slow so Marlowe tries his hand at becoming a pulp writer (like Chandler and the film's screenwriter Steve Fisher). He submits a story to a particularly gory magazine and gets a letter asking him to come into their offices. It turns out that the editor Adrienne Fromsett (Audrey Totter) wants to hire him to find the publisher's missing wife

I’ve come across so much great art and artists that are either directly or obliquely protesting the coronation, monarchy, and everything the Tories stand for. Here’s one from Robert Montgomery which, I think, is actually from the queen’s jubilee.
