Roadless area conservation: No roads, no extractive activities

Trump pushes to allow new logging in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest
* "The move would affect more than half of the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest, opening it to potential logging, energy and mining projects. It would undercut a sweeping Clinton administration policy known as the “roadless rule,” which has survived a decades-long legal assault." >>

* "Roadless area conservation is a conservation policy limiting road construction and the resulting environmental impact on designated areas of public land...In 'Industrial Tourism and the National Parks': Abbey describes road construction as "unnecessary or destructive development" and the loss of wilderness as a consequence of what he called "industrial tourism", where once-secluded natural areas become popularized and degraded." >>

* What Is the Roadless Rule? "Enacted in 2001, the Roadless Area Conservation Rule (Roadless Rule) designated forests across the country as “inventoried roadless areas,” prohibiting the building of — you guessed it, new roads — but also logging and other harmful industries on these lands." >>

What’s so bad about a road?
Roads are forest killers.

"A road means access. Once roads are bulldozed into rainforests, illegal loggers, miners, poachers and landgrabbers arrive. Once they get access, they can destroy forests, harm native ecosystems and even drive out or kill indigenous peoples. This looting of the natural world robs cash-strapped nations of valuable natural resources."

"When ghost roads appear, local deforestation soars – usually immediately after the roads are built. We found the density of roads was by far the most important predictor of forest loss, outstripping 38 other variables. No matter how one assesses them, roads are forest killers."

Roads of destruction: we found vast numbers of illegal ‘ghost roads’ used to crack open pristine rainforest

What harm can a road do? Plenty. Once built, illegal roads let loggers, miners, poachers and landgrabbers into the jungle, and the felling begins.

Aggressive Mastery

Howdy Internet, its been a little bit. I'm back, and I am starting with video games. Unity released the FPS Sample, a multi-player game using a lot of the pre-release technology, such as the ECS system and new network code (non-UNET.) This is my first youtube vid, don't expect full mastery day one. That's step 1! I can see this post in the future, the mention of these technologies... as new as they are today, simple tomorrow. I started out modding Duke Nukem 3D, then worked on Quake1 Team Fortress as a Level designer (hobby,) then with Cliffe and Gooseman building the initial DE_(Destruction) map for Counter Strike, as a Modification of Half-Life 1. Unity and the FPS Sample is the modern day example of that ease of modding. Join me for the journey!
