Kathy and I rode our road bikes on the 42 mile route Saturday from Morro Bay, CA, to Cambria and back on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) with a nice wide road shoulder to ride on. It’s not an extreme route but demanding on our segment. The 65, 75, and 100 mile routes probably are more so. I did a respectable 14 mph average over a 1,312 elevation gain with several challenging hills. The left photo is the Morro Bay rock viewed from the north on my way back from Cambria. It was about 8 miles away by road but the coast curves to the left and around to the rock so the viewing distance wasn’t as far. The photo on the right shows how big this 581 foot tall rock is from a 1/4 mile or so distance.
Morro Rock is the remnant of a volcanic plug - the neck of an extinct volcano, one of several in the area.
Morro Bay is a small but nice coastal town and worth a short stay, Cambria similarly.

YvonneDa war das Wetter heute endlich mal wieder frei von Dauerregen, Wind mit heftigen Böen und Temperaturen deutlich unter 10°C - wir konnten draußen fahren! Die Räder mussten zwar in die Badewanne, aber schön war es 💕🚴♀️ 🚴♂️46 km zu zweit und draußen sind doch spaßiger als 46 km in Zwift im Wohnzimmer… #gravelbike #ridley #roadbike #canyon

Spontane 65 km Rennrad-Runde einmal um Neumünster herum. Auf vorzüglichen Asphalt, also fast immer. Nur mit den Bahnübergängen hatten wir nicht so Glück :o)
