**Mitchell Ryan, Rosalind Cash.** It’s a very imaginative story–about the KGB “buying” Boz from an old enemy of his–and it has flashbacks to how the trio first met, but it takes too long to get going. We are almost halfway through the episode before the guys realise that Boz has been abducted. Almost everything before that is padding. Rosalind Cash is terrific as a police captain who helps the boys. The helicopter-truck chase at the end is great. Cody dropping computer equipment (including a monitor) onto the escaping truck is awesome. At the end of the day, this is basically a script about the strong bond between the three men and it’s lovely. _January 1985. NBC aired Riptide on Tuesdays in the second hour of primetime, after The A-Team and before Remington Steele. Against it, CBS had The CBS Tuesday Night Movie while ABC aired MacGruder & Loud. In terms of ratings, Riptide was in NBC’s Top 5 for the 1984-1985 season. It was at #5 behind Cheers (#4), The A-Team (#3), Family Ties (#2) and The Cosby Show (#1)._ 7/10

**Richard Lynch.** Riptide does a spooky episode. Except it’s neither spooky nor funny enough to work. The convoluted plot doesn’t make sense when you stop to think about it. A shame, because there’s a fun guest cast (Richard Lynch, Bert Freed, Jack Riley). I’m surprised this episode didn’t air at Halloween. _January 1985.
