Like I mentioned yesterday, I'm on an altered posting schedule so again it's earlier than I'm hoping to do future posts. Today has been a so-so day...not bad but not great either. It was more of a passing time kind of day. I do have a few things I want to talk about today.
One, for most of the day, the way I passed the time was watching some old stuff. To start, I watched some original 9/11 coverage from ABC & NBC from 2001 on YouTube. I don't know why I watch footage from that day from time to time but I do. It holds some weird fascination with me. It might be because the day itself is still one of the few that I remember rather vivid details of it. You always hear the words "never forget" in relation to that specific day, September 11, 2001, and I haven't. Watching old coverage brings back the vivid aspects that day for me. This time I got bored with that and started searching YouTube clips of pro wrestling from days past. After a while, it hit me that I already had Peacock and could watch some of that stuff there. Don't know why it didn't hit me before but soon enough I started watching some early to mid 90s WCW on Peacock's WWE VOD channel. That's what's been on my TV throughout most of today. Takes me back.
Two, I have some follow-up from a quick aside in my last post. I briefly brought up the burn from Greta Thunberg toward that idiotic right-wing extremist. Well, even I can't believe the series of events that happened afterward. It seems the moron, as I'm just gonna call the guy especially in light of what ended up happening, tried to respond to the burn with another arrogant tweet. Unfortunately for that guy but fortunately for most other people, this moron is now in police custody in Romania and the aforementioned tweet was likely what led to his arrest. The response tweet the moron shared included a pic of him with a bunch of pizza boxes. The boxes are an important detail here as they were from a local pizza shop somewhere in Romania. Apparently, there was already an arrest warrant issued for this moron somewhere near or in the area where that pizza shop was located. I'm guessing some astute observers noted the details of the pic as well as the timing of when it was likely taken and informed local law enforcement. Law enforcement folks apparently did some investigating, issued some search warrants, found the guy, and arrested him on human trafficking charges. Bottom line is that in trying to "own a lib" (which is a dumb concept in the first place), the moron ended up getting "owned" by law enforcement instead, if you know what I mean. After all this moron tried to pull, he only proved that supreme arrogance can lead to absolute stupidity and this moron is proof of that.
Anyway, before I go, I wanted to note today for a specific reason. 20 years ago today, I went to my first Cleveland Browns football game in person. There is a major reason that day became so important to me, aside from a Browns win against a Michael Vick-led Atlanta Falcons team helping the Browns get into the playoffs for the first time since their return from "hiatus" 3 years earlier. It was also the event that set my life on an upward trajectory for the following two years. Unfortunately, as I alluded to in my first post here on Mastodon, the subsequent 18 years and counting has seen my life on a downward heading, sometimes it's a slow slide and sometimes it feels like a landslide, but ever since the end of that 2 year period, I've been waiting for that moment or try to force the kind of event, the kind of impetus, that would start another upward life trajectory for yours truly...the kind that will take me through the rest of my days...and maybe even beyond. I don't know when or even if it'll ever happen but I confess that until it happens I will keep waiting. It's a part of my greatest wish so what else can I do?
