TechSpot: xAI employee praised by collegues for working 36 hours without sleep. “In an era where we’re told to have a work-life balance and not grind ourselves to death, it’s depressing to see xAI employees publicly cheer a colleague for working 36 hours without sleep. Unsurprisingly, his boss, Elon Musk, who demands we live and sleep at the office while simultaneously having more babies, gave […]

More Nonsense

About six years ago I wrote a post that described my bewilderment at things not making sense and it included my discombobulation at the sight of shoes thrown over power lines.

Well, today, I saw some more shoes thrown over power lines, and the things that didn’t make sense six years ago make even less sense today. Sean Spicer isn’t dancing with the stars any more, but the Alberta government is still spending more time and energy on national politics than provincial concerns. Sigh. I thought at the time that we had reached maximum ridiculousness but I was clearly too optimistic.

Here are some high-flung shoes.

A quotation from Nicolas Chamfort

The most absurd customs and the most ridiculous ceremonies are everywhere excused by an appeal to the phrase, but that’s the tradition. This is exactly what the Hottentots say when Europeans ask them why they eat grasshoppers and devour their body lice. That’s the tradition, they explain.
