This piece is called “Beaches and Rhododendrons”. It’s a Redwood Coast regional piece I made after moving to Eureka, CA, when I noticed there were a LOT of Rhododendrons in the city. So many, in fact, that they’re the official City Flower and there’s an annual Rhododendron Parade!

This piece is #HumanMade, done entirely by me on my iPad Pro in Procreate.

Here’s are the three livestream recordings:

I can't find the tag on this rhododendron, maybe it is R. 'Heaven Scent' but I am not at all certain. It is the last rhodie blooming in our garden, and happens to be right next to the deck we added a few years ago. As the day cooled down it suddenly became extremely fragrant, one assumes to attract evening pollinators such as moths. Take note of the lovely dark red bracts on the upper truss. It's around 12' tall in 20 years.

Blossom by Ethan Su

The Yushan alpine rhododendrons are finally in bloom once again on Taiwan’s 3,000-metre-high Hehuan mountain. A solar flare from active region AR3664 reached Earth that evening, intensifying the airglow and adding an otherworldly touch to the sky. Together, these rare natural events created a breathtaking scene – vivid blooms glowing softly beneath a star-filled sky.

Briefly out around my co-op's campus taking care of co-op biz yesterday, and stopped to admire how these rhodies pop against the shade of our courtyard's refurbished mid-century modern awning.
