#Israel is not a natural state; it is a colonial enterprise originally created to destabilise the #MiddleEast. Surrounding nations, newly formed by the war-weary West, were falling under increasing influence of the #SovietUnion, which was readily supplying large quantities of weapons and logistics in the hope of gaining access to vast natural resources.

The formation of Israel created both a bulwark and a magnet for conflict. It is the #Rhodesia of the Middle East.

In 1965 on #ThisDayInHistory, the #WhiteSupremacist colonial government of #SouthernRhodesia issued #Rhodesia's Unilateral Declaration of Independence. This was to avoid any chance of independence favouring the black majority. The #apartheid government finally collapsed in 1979.
