I designed a bolt with a Reuleaux triangle shaft that turns inside a square nut.
It’s a strange bit of geometry that actually works—thanks to the constant-width shape.

This shape of window in John Honeyman's 1864 Trinity Congregational Church on Clairmont Street in Glasgow is known as a Reuleaux Triangle. Basically it's a triangle with curved sides and it has some interesting properties, one of which is that drill bits with this shape can be used to create square holes!
