Spent a bunch of time messing with my Razer Edge today. Tried to get #FinalFantasyXV Pocket Edition on it, which is no longer available on the Play Store. Things were looking good until it couldn’t connect to the server. Decided to give up on it as I also found out it doesn’t have controller support.

I then got all my retro games loaded on my SD card and installed #RetroArch in hopes of using what I learned from #RetroGameCorps’ video about black frame insertion and CRT Beam to get better motion clarity. That didn’t work out either as I couldn’t get it to work without causing flickering.

Next thing I want to do is get #SuperMarioWorld running in extrawide mode with the #SMWWidescreen mod.

Prompted by Russ from #RetroGameCorps, I looked into the DBrand sleeve and cover for my ROG Ally X, and I decided to grab a set. I have not yet otherwise gotten a case for it, so I've been really careful with it. It will be nice to have it in a state with the sleeve and cover where I can toss it in my bag and take it with me. If I toss in the bag a port rep, a portable keyboard, and a track ball, I have a pretty capable PC too for on-the-go futzing.
The official Nintendo Museum appears to be emulating SNES games on a Windows PC, which is slightly embarrassing

Emulators are bad, remember. Until they're useful, of course.

@jsit If you insist on an #anbernic device, then the #rg35xxsp is a no-brainer. It's super powerful, there's great cfw options for it, it supports wifi, bluetooth and hdmi, and can even run Dreamscast and N64 (although it lacks an analog stick). And of course, it looks just like a GBASP which is just adorable (it even goes to sleep when you close the lid).

If you want a larger screen and overall size, you might want to check out the #rg40xxV. It isn't out just yet, but it looks like it will be a good fit for larger sized hands. #retrogamecorps on YT has great reviews for both of these and the miyoo mini plus.

Anybody have a #ROGAlly? What do you think of it?

I've been contemplating one in part because it's absolutely not a Steam Deck. But also because it seems to have good solid support and even community support for Linux install (which I am inclined to do).

I keep tabs on a Retro Gaming YouTube channel called #RetroGameCorps and he uses a ROG Ally with the eGPU dock as his primary gaming machine. Looks like a neat setup!

In my office space, I have my work gear, but I also squeeze in my personal laptop off to the side, and it almost always takes up too much room on my desk. I had considered buying a compact gaming PC to replace it, but after seeing the ROG Ally used as a desktop computer, I kinda dig the idea of doing that instead.

Anybody have any thoughts? Recommends? Caveats?
