Research data is only as valuable as its accessibility. The FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) aren't just buzzwords — they're the foundation of reproducible science.

Not sure where to start? We offer free consulting to help you make your data FAIR from day one.

Big news from @fairsharing! 🎉 We've just completed a major curation effort — our Object Type field is now fully populated across our entire registry.

Knowing what kind of digital object a resource handles — whether that's datasets, images, software, models, or something else — is fundamental to finding the right tools and staying compliant with funder and institutional policies.

So what does the data tell us? 📊

🗂️ Datasets dominate, with 3,811 assignments — over 50% of the total

🖼️ Images (1,082) and Models (415) are the largest non-document outputs

đź“„ Software Source Code policies outnumber Software Application policies 2:1, perhaps a sign that reproducibility and open code increasingly important?

đź“‹ Data Management Plans are heavily represented in policies, which makes sense!

You can now explore object types via faceted search and advanced search on the FAIRsharing website. And for developers and tool builders, the field is fully accessible via the FAIRsharing API.

Huge thanks to our maintainers, Community Champions, and the FAIRsharing team — especially David Tomkins, Lea Girard, Ramon Granell, and Allyson Lister. 🙌

We've just added native RAiD support to RSpace's PID portfolio, so researchers can report data deposits to a RAiD record automatically, as part of their usual repository export workflow.

The abstract submission for #nfdi4LSIB2026 is now open! 🗓️ Deadline: May 15, 2026.

We are calling on the architects of the life science data ecosystem—developers, data stewards, and RDM experts—to share their work at Leibniz IPK in Gatersleben this September (2-4).

Outstanding technical papers will be invited for free open-access publication in the Journal of Integrative Bioinformatics.

Always happy when the researchers are getting the basics right in #ResearchDataManagement. That's good then.
