Three eggs! This happens a lot. With four chickens all around 2 years old or more, this is a good score. It’ll slow down a little in the winter though #chickens #rescuechickens
Rosemary is getting some heavy feather growth after being here 2 weeks. Looks like an itchy day with it, too. Have both sets of chickens in the garden today, hoping we can stop dividing the run this weekend, but some dominance stuff to get through first. Amelia, our older chicken, very clearly the boss. #chickens #rescueChickens #backyardChickens
Shockingly, the #rescueChickens don’t appreciate - or even eat - sweetcorn. After they failed to eat any, I gave Peggy here one piece and she wouldn’t leave me alone until she ended up on my lap finishing the odd leftover fragments of it in the dish. #chickens #backyardchickens
Quite a dust bath. Wonder if it’s her best ever. She’s certainly happy about it. #chickens #rescueChickens #backyardChickens
Looks to me as if Rosemary has had her beak trimmed. She’s definitely the most exploratory and competitive of the chickens so perhaps we see why, but it’s not nice to see and illustrates the unnatural and unpleasant conditions that even these “free range” chickens are kept in. #chickens #rescuechickens #backyardchickens
It’s been a week and the old and new chickens are still separated, but everyone’s settling in. Wanda has revealed her passion for digging holes. Deep holes. #rescueChickens #Chickens #backyardChickens
We’re getting a lot of eggs from these 18 month old #rescueChickens. 2-3 a day from 3 chickens. It’s a bit of a shock to have so many after our chickens got to 2 years old (and one died). Suddenly we’re giving away eggs again and eating them for lunch. The first day’s eggs, not based on our food, were noticeably less rich in colour though. Will see if that changes! #chickens #backyardChickens
