Did you fly #HomeToVote #RepealThe8th from the US on @AerLingus? I have two one-way upgrades expiring June 30 that I won't be able to use that I'd love to give to someone on their journey back to the US.

Interesting to see how After Eights are being used eg. handed out, to mark the success of the #RepealThe8th campaign.

Absolutely crucial book on the reaction of Irish and US Christian extremists to judicial developments in Ireland (& elsewhere) in the 1970s.

(Ireland: McGee v Attorney General; US: Roe v Wade; also ECtHR: Dudgeon v UK - impugning 1861 Act used to criminalise sex between men, which was also in force in Ireland, and which was the same Act which criminalised abortion.)

Grey - we were unable to determine their views, so it’s unlikely they will progress the legislation.

This is not an endorsement of any candidate or party, and relates only to their stance on our policies. Please do your own research on other issues important to you before choosing who to vote for.

We encourage you to vote pro choice. Now and always.

Vote Pro Choice: GE24 Candidates' Stance

Google Docs

We need free, safe, legal, local, and accessible abortion services. The only way to achieve this is to vote pro choice.

ARC have compiled a list of all the candidates running in the 2024 General Election and their stance on reproductive rights.

Green - Free, Safe, Legal, Local and Accessible.

Yellow - pro choice but unlikely to push for greater access or advance the legislation.

Red - hold views which do not align with ARC’s values.

The Abortion Rights Campaign:

This general election, it's so important to vote Pro Choice. Six years on from repeal, we still don't have comprehensive abortion services. The rise of the far right and the roll back of reproductive rights around the world, means that now more than ever, we need to make sure our politicians will push forward with Marie O'Shea’s recommendations.

In many ways, the campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment was a product of its time. In 2012, social media was relatively free from suppressive algorithms. The hashtag #RepealThe8th was first used on Twitter by a now-private account on 25th November 2012. It swiftly went viral.

The hashtag remained in use to draw attention to the campaign and the impact of Irish abortion law throughout the campaign until the referendum in 2018. It made the topic visible around the world.

So...

Four overt racists, one of them a climate-change denying anti-vaxxer also posting links to racist screeds.
One "mainstream party" councillor who a few years ago casually dropped Great Replacement talking points into a conversation about #RepealThe8th.
On the bright side, there doesn't seem to be an Aontú hack.
