$155 increase from an already very high rent. I've only been here one year after being #renovicted out of my last place. Goddamned bloodsuckers enabled by a provincial government that scaremongers over

Just one more thing this Alberta government is forking over to their rich pals.
I'm sitting in a tiny local coffee shop that houses another little shop, looking out at our #pedestrianstreet — a rare #carfree space!
Yet all I can think of, in my little paradise in #Montreal, is the lightning-fast #gentrification that brought this borough where it is.
The fact that in another life, if I hadn't broken the cycle, I'd be the one getting #renovicted with nowhere to go. ... And in another decade, maybe I will be.
The fact that #goodurbanism is a privilege.
It's bittersweet.
My #disabled friend is being #renovicted -- the text in the #gofundme (https://www.gofundme.com/f/sebmk-needing-a-new-place-asap) says it's not an eviction but it was later determined it is absolutely a renoviction so they can turn the building into Air B&Bs (FUCK AIR B&B #airbnb #airbb).
They can't find a place, no one returns their calls, they have well-behaved cats, and they are right now at risk of their only option being overstaying their tenancy (which brings with it potential legal issues).
Obviously no one can help with the fact that #landlords are scum, but if you feel like you can help even in a small way, please do, it would be greatly appreciated.
