High water bills, filthy rivers – and now drought. This is England's great artificial water crisis of 2025. In its refusal to #renationalise water, it’s clear the government operates in the interests of private capital and not of the country. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

In its refusal to nationalise water, it’s clear the government operates in the interests of private capital and not of the country, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

@RaymondPierreL3 Yes, sounds like a plan… The good news is the tide is turning. Younger generations are no longer captive to the Murdoch media monopoly and are far more sceptical of the neoliberal script. The real problem is my generation: the over-50s, where a greedy minority benefit and an ignorant majority keep voting to protect them. #auspol #mediadiversity #renationalise

More detail:
Thames Water are now relying on a £3bn emergency loan to stay afloat.

Why are they £14bn in debt? Why was thetr a pollution spill?
Privatisation means profits went to shareholders and not fixing pipes.
They underinvested, overloaded the system, and let pollution spill.

So essentially this may lead to:
Massive debts.
Environmental violations.
Potential taxpayer rescue.

Privatised profits. Public consequences.
Water is a right, not a revenue stream.

UK friends! Pls sign this petition!
Thames Water is £14bn in debt, polluting our rivers, and now relying on emergency loans. A public bailout could leave us footing the bill (again)

Water is a basic right, not a business. Let’s take it back.

Labour pledges to renationalise most rail services within five years

"but there will still be a role for the private sector."

How long will it take #MrFlipFlop to renege on this pledge? And WTF has it got to do with the private sector, who will no doubt suck money out like the leeches they are?
Don't stop there, #Starmer promise us you'll #renationalise water and electricity as well. Not that you ever will.
