Thames Water are now relying on a £3bn emergency loan to stay afloat.

Why are they £14bn in debt? Why was thetr a pollution spill?
Privatisation means profits went to shareholders and not fixing pipes.
They underinvested, overloaded the system, and let pollution spill.

So essentially this may lead to:
Massive debts.
Environmental violations.
Potential taxpayer rescue.

Privatised profits. Public consequences.
Water is a right, not a revenue stream.

According to Feargal Sharkey my water provider Anglian Water paid £4.6 billion to shareholders between 2012 and 2022.

But you will find no mention of that in the BBC’s ‘balanced’ reporting on the funding of Anglian’s very belated infrastructure project to keep the taps on in the East.

Privatisation created monopolies in water industry which were a license to print money for shareholders. Make it stop.
