DJI owns 26 of the EU’s 66 approved drones — nearly 40% — but that dominance might not matter: EASA is rewriting the Cx class and the EU may force mandatory Remote ID at 100g.

That could reclassify tons of consumer drones and spark major industry pushback this summer. #RemoteID

DJI drone owners must register drones over 250g by 2025 to avoid fines up to $10,000.

FAA, CAAS, and CAA rules now require Remote ID broadcasting and visible registration.

Stay compliant or risk grounding and penalties. #DroneLaws #RemoteID

Anyone have any comments or concerns about this IETF Draft that discusses using #IPv6 addresses as a way to encrypt Remote ID session data? I think some of the data sent from Remote ID would be formatted as IPv6 addresses and by doing a reverse lookup of that address, you can verify the encryption, or something like that.

I need to read this document a couple more times before I really understand it. But I am curious what others think.

Means of Compliance for DRIP Entity Tags as UAS RID Identifiers

This document is intended for Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) as a Means of Compliance (MOC) for using Drone Remote Identification Protocol (DRIP) Entity Tags (DETs) for Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Remote ID (RID) identifiers. This enables Session IDs, Authentication Key IDs for accountability, and encryption key IDs for confidentiality.

The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently released a report on Remote ID. I have only had a chance to skim it so far, but it looks like they are making some recommendations to the FAA to make remote ID more useful to law enforcement.

If you fly #drones or model aircraft in the US and have questions about remote ID modules, let me know. I'd be happy to try and answer them.

Want to fly your #drone or model aircraft in the US without remoteID? Then you might be looking for a FRIA to fly in. In that case, here are three ways you can use to find a FRIA near you.

Finally! I know I’m not the only one who’s been waiting for a backordered #RemoteID broadcast module. #drones #dronetag

Not sure when this actually happened, but the FAA now shows FRIA locations on the UAS Facilities Map.

So if you are looking for all the locations you can fly a drone/model aircraft in the US without needing a remote ID module, you can see them on the map now.

Well, it looks like it's time for me to play around with Remote ID now that my Flite Test EZ ID module has arrived.

I think I'll also give remote ID spoofing, and remote ID detection a go too while I'm at it.
