If there were a referendum tomorrow, 63% of Britons would vote to rejoin the EU, according to recent YouGov polling. Since #rejoin would probably win an even bigger landslide in many of the urban seats up for election in May, a cynic might say #Starmer had his reasons for suddenly warming to Brussels and cooling on Washington.

Long before the last election I did state on occasion that with regard to his red lines on the EU that I thought Sir Starmer may be painting himself in a corner that he would find difficult to leave while retaining any credibility in the policy area - think we're reaching that point and paint isn't dry
