Have to say if I see another post on LinkedIn by someone hiring and bemoaning job candidates using AI, I think I will just SCREAM. (Writing this Mail style to emphasise my frustration).
Not sure if it shows lack of empathy, but I do think it definitely shows incredible lack of insight into the current state of the job market, which surprises me if you're working in these areas. If you're posting something like this, then what it screams is that you haven’t applied for any jobs in the past couple of years.
I'm not a huge fan of AI at all and I don't want to promote it. I'm very wary of it. But the reality is that people are now doing 800-1,000 applications, some even more, to land a gig, with very few if any responses. And trying to survive while doing this. The system is *completely broken•. I can’t imagine what it’s like being a graduate atm.
Are recruiters really surprised then that some jobseekers would turn to AI? Yes, in an ideal world no one would use it for this. But the reality is that people are now forced to.
Maybe the question is how they're using it, which it seems must be poorly, in many cases. But these posts never mention this. They're very black or white and un-nuanced, as LinkedIn has become.
Also, if you’re so sick of this why not have guidelines on your application form? And in these, why not commit to not using it, too?
