#Adelaide #Musicians #Bands #RecordingArtists G'day folks,
Just curious about how people would feel about a broad-based community get-together from the Adelaide music community to maybe share some tips and tricks for making a living from music in the Adelaide scene, and find out what people might want to see in the local sector.
For me that's government/council support to set up some venues where musicians can book the venue, rather than the other way around. That way if a group has a following/especial event/cause they want to support, they can have an organised, licensed venue where they can play on their own terms. I'd expect a few people like me would also support the Musicians SA minimum gig fee campaign, but understand the reasons why some might not.
The key outcome I'd be looking for is to:
A) Build community with fellow music practitioners
B) Get a list of desired outcomes that can be presented to Musicians SA, SA Gov, Federal Gov, Councils, etc.
C) Try and build some coherence between local musos when it comes to defining strategies to support the industry and its participants.
We're stronger together than alone. And the idea that changes the landscape for the better for us all might come from anyone. 🙂
I'm thinking 2nd/3rd week of Jan for the lull between holidays and the ramping up of Fringe/Mad March.
If I can get 50+ people respond with some level of interest, I'll hit up Music Australia, maybe APRA-AMCOS/PPCA and the usual suspects to see what we can get happening. At 100 enthusiastic yesses we might even be able to make it a bigger event with maybe some workshops, bands, etc.
