A record I never gave a lot of listens to, even though it very much fit my sensibilities then and now. It's better and more listenable than I remembered it, and falls right into my Marc Almond/Kurt Weill fascination.

This sounds great. The music itself, the drums, the instrumentation that somehow almost sounds like a big band despite being a quintet…apparently there are other instruments added in although the jacket doesn’t list instrumentation. I know Nat Adderley is on cornet.
So glad I took a chance on this.
#CannonballAdderley - Accent on Africa (1967)
This album as a whole is a little too “elevator music-y” for my taste, but years of staying up late watching Nick at Nite as a kid means I’ll just play side A twice to hear Taxi if I’m not in the mood for the whole thing. Even if it’s not all my jam, it’s high quality in general and I respect it.
But Angela is the best track by a wide margin IMO. It slaps.
