When I saw Ready or Not in 2019 I was amazed and astounded. A horror film that had me laughing from the beginning to the end. If you’re unfamiliar with it, a young woman (Samara Weaving) gets married to a rich family, but she doesn’t know that there’s a ritual. She has to play a game with the family. Sometimes people play chess, sometimes people play checkers. But she pulls out a card that says “hide and seek” which is one of the few murderous games involved. Big opening box office numbers for Project Hail Mary. I was surprised by the Ready or Not 2 takings, but it’s on a phased rollout. It’ll be mid-April before it’s playing in all territories.
Plus, I might have inflated expectations as I read a lot about Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton. They’ve been in a lot of my favourite films over the last few years.

I really liked the first Ready or Not, and I really liked the second one, too. Bigger cast and more action, but still just as much fun, and I can imagine them making for a great double feature once the second one is out on video and streaming.
