I should have just stuck with trying to work through my already long reading list...

I would love to see your reading pile – however big, small, tidy or chaotic. Tell me about it; what should be added to my own mountain?
Here's mine. Lagging a bit with a few books because I have too many on the go at once, but I'll finish Melissa Febos's amazing essays on writing today. Christmas will see me through Jamie, James and Hughes. I really need to open Deakin again.
05.00. A short spell shivering outside under an immense starry sky, watching the Leonids – just three meteors scything through the dark – then inside to warmth and books and coffee. And all is well.

My day usually starts at 5.00am – I appreciate the silence before the world wakes, a good time for reading (and an excuse to squeeze extra cups of black coffee into the morning ☕️).
Two books this morning: returning to Slad with Laurie Lee, and to vanished wildwoods with Oliver Rackham. Lee, I love – a local hero, whose writing is as fresh as ever. #ReadingPile #books #reading
I’m still introducing myself, so let’s talk BOOKS. I’m studying for an MA in nature & travel writing, and contributing reviews to The Great Outdoors magazine. Both have lent focus to my usually haphazard reading choices. Currently I’m reading a lot about geology and trees, for my own book project, and making time to enjoy a little Murakami.
On the rug: previous book on rocks, next book on trees. On my bedside table: other lovely things. #books #ReadingPile #reading #naturewriting #introductions
