In January, I'm going to start my read around the world challenge. I'm not planning on finishing it within one year, it might take several years. If you want to join me: The first book is going to be "We Are Still Here: The Women of Afghanistan" #readaroundtheworld #readingchallenge
Started a book for my #readaroundtheworld challenge. Three pages in I knew it was not for me. Time for a different scandi thriller.

I don't mind dogeared books, they show the book has been read, used and devoured. But, this is the biggest dogear I've seen in a long, long while. Part of the charm of second-hand books is the little secrets, clues, gems and history they offer.

Now, I'm off to Egypt as part of the Storygraph, Read Around the World Challenge. Maybe I'll see you there!

@petnoodle I have one of her books on the list for my #ReadAroundTheWorld challenge. Might have to add some more
"The Bangalore Detectives Club" by Harini Nagendra. Again, 3 out of 5, which is not bad, not good. Just a book, meh. Our main character is never challenged which is my biggest issue, she never has to use her head. But I can tick off another country on my #ReadAroundTheWorld #Book #MurderMystery #Bookstodon
Finished "Recipes for Love and Murder" by Sally Andrew and it was lovely, it had humor and heart (and recipes for chocolate cake) and flesh out characters. My first South African book as well. 4 stars out of 5. #MurderMystery #CozyMystery #Books #Bookstodon #ReadAroundTheWorld
Book Review - Death, the Devil, and the Goldfish by Andrew Buckley - Themself

Death, the Devil, and the Goldfish by Andrew Buckley My rating: 3 of 5 stars A little mixed on this one. on the plus side I enjoyed the inventive nature of the story and it made me laugh in places. So it could have been a four or five star read. The story is engaging and has clearly been crafted. I could go with the necessary suspension of disbelief for the core plot elements of the eponymous Death, the Devil and the Goldfish. These were good as well as the robot elves and the other characters. In fact that whole bit was fab. The bit I had some issues with was an easy fix. Ostensibly the book is mostly set in London, and I live and work in the area covered. However the book uses rather a lot of North […]

Seeing the #readaroundtheworld challenge, here are the books I read for the similar challenge at #StoryGraph this year, and
some #poetry anthologies I've read over the last few years as part of my attempts at #readingtheworld @bookstodon #readtheworld #books - the massive Australian volume has the distinction of being the only non-ebook I've read in at least the last 5 years.
