TIL Don‘t try to solder „thick“ RC battery wires together to change the plug on a battery. It. Just. Gets. Ugly. (And takes ages.)

Simply order plain plugs, don‘t repurpose adapters with wires on them. I hope these abominations don‘t introduce too much resistance now… 🙄

So this is pretty cool. Getting back into #rccars has been a lot of fun and I was out near Red Rocks here in Colorado with a friend doing some rc overlanding. My friend has the Traxxas TRX4 Nissan Pathfinder, a very nice and capable truck, and I have my crappy "Legendary Grando" I got from meh.com a few weeks ago. It has a few minor upgrades on it to make it a little less crappy haha.

What’s this? A post? I’ve been so busy with moving to Colorado from California I’ve just not had much time for projects and that’s what I like to post about the most. Well today the movers arrived and oh I have so many boxes to unpack and move and man. Just too much.

But I also got an 8th scale buggy kit that I’m really excited to build. This is the kit and some of the parts needed to build it. It’s a Tekno EB48 2.2. #rccar #rccars

Well I guess I’m really in for it now. Picked up a new Spektrum radio. These radios can basically do all of the Horizon Hobby vehicles plus any regular Spektrum receivers.

Spent last night configuring the radio for my Arrma Kraton Mini and my oooold Traxxas Slash LCG RWD short course truck. Slash had to get a new receiver since the one it had was for a different radio system.

I also improved the geometry of the front end of the Slash and while working on it, remembering how much I used to love@this hobby. But I also wanna keep it simple.

Hi Fediverse!

I've started doing some, er, questionable modifications to toys and RC cars.

Yeah, I will get a Peertube instance up and running eventually, but the box my GotoSocial instance is on is already running low on memory...

Any ideas for future projects? I plan on winterizing an RC car (with big paddle tires and a sealed body), adding 3D printed tank tracks to the toy in the video, adding cameras to some RC cars, and adding a far-too-powerful brushless motor to my 1994 Tamiya rally car too (and setting up Peertube, and upgrading GotoSocial from v19), but other suggestions are appreciated!
