Seabird breeding season is in full swing on the Braunann mór (The big seastack) at the Cliffs of Moher. A noisy spot, with over 6,000 birds coming and going as they feed their chicks. Mostly Guillemots and Kittiwakes with some Razorbills and Shags scattered amongst them.

Part 1: At Sea

Excuse fuzziness. Operating an iPhone whilst bobbing like a cork on water isn’t easy!!

Today, Mothman and Mothman’s Mr Spouse went #wildlife searching around the Scilly Isles, firstly on a boat where we saw #puffins, #guillemots and #razorbills, atlantic #seals and a distant #PeregrineFalcon.

Not on photo, but we also saw #cormorants and even bagged a couple of #shags

A little-known ornithological fact is, that #razorbills like to eat their own wings for breakfast. This makes the wings smaller and smaller and eventually they become penguins.

I prefer coffee.

My #painting "Why they're called #Seabirds" is finished!

It’s inspired by a moment on a boat trip to #BassRock when I watched a #guillemot dive just below the surface and I could see it clearly swimming alongside the boat for some distance. I've tried to express some of the thrill of seeing that. The rest is imagined!
