"In the early 90s, Portugal experienced its own dance music explosion. Raves of epic proportions and a new sound shaped what was then called: “Underground house music from a paradise called Portugal”. Featuring exclusive footage and interviews with DJs, producers, dancers, and promoters, the story unfolds to reveal the birth and evolution of Portuguese rave culture and its lasting influence on electronic music worldwide.
Sometimes you might think that there aren’t little pieces of paradise in Portugal. But they do exist and this was one of them. Come for the archival footage of José Rodrigues dos Santos introducing the rave phenomenon to the general public in Portuguese prime time, and stay for a host of big names who lived through the explosion of dance music in Portugal in the 1990s and who tell, in person, what it was like to live through such a revolutionary moment in Portuguese music: the adventures, the stories and the sleepless, but thoroughly danced-through, nights. A film made with those who know the subject, by those who know the subject, in this case producers João Ervedosa (aka Shcuro) and Maria Guedes (Maria Amor) and director Daniel Mota. (Ana Cabral Martins)"
