Got a peek at the new #Ravenloft book and wouldn't you know it, they have a battlemap of Avernus as-is. Well, sorta. They have like five disconnected rooms you can run encounters in.
It's similar for each domain: one sentence blurbs for what the campaign story for each tier of play might look like. A statblock for the dark lord and like four random encounters.
I miss structured hardcover adventures, man. I really do. #DnD

Ravenloft is cool. But I want #DarkSun back, dammit. Make it clear slavery is evil and something to be fought. Remove the racial essentialism ick about force-bred slave muls and thieving elves and cannibal halflings. Reset the setting and screw the Prism Pentad. But give me back my Athas! Dragon Kings and psionic wildlife that wants to eat you! Bone and obsidian weapons! Armor? What's that? Deadly magic! Incredible secrets in the wasteland!

🎲 and #Ravenloft #DnD tonight!
I've always had an interest in the #DnD #Ravenloft campaign setting, but earlier editions had one extant detail that turned me off: the idea of the Domains mushed together into a continent. With the wildly different cultures and technological levels that somehow did not begin to mutate through exchange, it made absolutely no sense to me. "The Dark Powers did it" was never a satifactory explanation to me. The "islands" that were introduced later on were more satisfactory to me.
The latest edition does away with the idea of the "Core" and turns every Domain into an island. This appeals to me. However, the book only presents 16 Domains (including the new Lovecraft-inspired Innsmouth). Gone are many of the odder, more interesting ones, like Bluetspur, the land of the Illithids and their insane God-Brain. They would be easy enough to bring back if one has access to earlier editions (especially 3e's Domains of Dread, published by White Wolf), I suppose, but I'm lazy.
I do plan to pick up the book at some point in the near future. #ttrpg

Eine etwas unheimliche Faszination ging von diesem Ort aus. Sonntag 12.00 Uhr unmittelbar zwischen Altstadt und Kaiserpfalz. Nichts ist los. Nichts. Keine Kinder. Wäre noch Nebel hinzugekommen, ganz klar, man wäre aus Versehen in so eine Art Ravenloft hineingewandert (eine dunkle verfluchte Parallelwelt). In vielem liegt ein Zauber. Ein vielleicht auf dem zweiten Blick ungewöhnlicher Ort.
