Not as showy as my Haida potatoes, but my skirret keeps on growing little by little, as do my woolly sunflowers. Skirret is supposedly a bit finicky about sprouting, but all my seeds sprouted without any issues. I'm wondering if the snow helped.

Funny how when you plant a plant that has been grown here for several hundred years, they grow like a plant that was meant to be here. We didn't have much luck with our warba potatoes at our last place. It was very dry and arid even though it wasn't far from where we are now. We maybe got six potatoes that year. It was depressing.

Same technique, same brand of local potting mix, but entirely different results with the Haida potatoes. They seem so happy with our seriously unpredictable weather and just keep getting bigger and bigger. We've done one lift of soil already this week but they have grown another six inches this week. I will do another lift of straw and soil as soon as I can. Cannot wait to try them!

... and now Gus has emerged from somewhere with one of the missing Haida potatoes. Perhaps he'd hid it in a kitty vortex.

Mission accomplished. Grateful for friends who are coffee roasters.

Insulated bottom and top with bedding straw. Basically as cozy as a potato can get.
