Le Temps Des Moissons Vol.2
Alternative mixes 1975 - 2018
This saxophone melody resonates in my memory… I have recorded many times or played live those notes and their variations. Here are some alternative mixes from very different periods.

Ended Thursday and welcomed Friday after a swim with Le Temps Des Moissons by Ariel Kalma, released on Astral Muse in 1975.

...the first solo recording LP from Ariel Kalma, recorded in 1975...

Ariel convinced the pressing engineer to loop the groove at the end of side 2 - thus creating an endless loop - and although it was casually mentioned on the cover, it caused surprises sometimes by sending listeners into trance. or on some occasions burning the motor of their turntable after endless hours!

Note from Ariel : Saxophone is powerful. It has raw sounds that are often filtered, polished for easier listening. I like to let my saxophone sing and when I play, I hear high-pitched, teasing sounds that I like so much. they titillate my senses. If it is too sharp for your ears, adjust your EQ till you are comfortable.

Ended the week and welcomed the weekend after a swim with 3: Calcutta Slide-Guitar by Debashish Bhattacharya, released on Riverboat Records in 2005.

Allmusic Review by Adam Greenberg

..The album starts out with a short composition based in "Raga Mishra Shiva Ranjani" on the small anandi, a slide ukulele that gives Bhattacharya the ability to show off the speed of his picking style. A longer exploration of "Raga Tilak Kamod" is done with the Ghandarvi guitar, created to sound like a guitar, a veena, and a sarangi depending on how it's played.... Bhattacharya explores the raga thoroughly, giving the old masters a run for their money. For guitar aficionados and Indian classical aficionados alike, this one's worth a spin or three.

Debashis Bhattacharya plays the early-morning raga, Ahir Bhairav, which combines elements of the profound raga Bhairav with the romance and sorrow of Ahiri folk melodies. Debashis concludes with a bittersweet thumri in raga Bhairavi

We're talking about #AsianMusic?

Video games were a big part of my childhood, so Nobuo Uematsu, the SEGA Team, Koji Kondo and the creators of that wonderful music have long been an influence on me.

In regards to #HeavyMetal, Sigh 🇯🇵 are the first band I think of in regards to Asia. In Somniphobia is one of my favorite albums ever, and their catalog is incredible. They put Asian #BlackMetal on the map.

X-Japan 🇯🇵 are, of course, one of the most important #VisualKei bands in history, and their musicianship is incredible.

Melt-Banana 🇯🇵 are a #Noise/#AvantGarde rock group who put out the incredible "3+5" a few years ago, and was my AOTY.

Wormrot 🇸🇬 are probably my favorite #Grindcore/#PowerViolence band. Every album they've put out is untouchable.

Plecto Aliquem Capite 🇱🇰 are one of the most unhinged #BlackMetal bands I've ever heard. I recommend checking out their EP "The end".

Recently, I've also started listening to more Asian #Doom/#Stoner/#Sludge metal and really enjoy Church of Misery 🇯🇵, who write almost exclusively about serial killers.

And, of course, Boris 🇯🇵. They're comparable to the Melvins, but also not a thing like them, but they're own strange entity. The song Quicksilver fucking slays, while a song like Farewell is a mellow affair. Their collaborations are great, too.

I plan on checking out more stuff, like Tang Dynasty 🇨🇳, and will take any recommendations for heavy stuff.

I'm not a fan of J- or C- or K- Pop but I'm not about to dismiss them. Kudos to those groups for making so many people (adults included) happy and creating something positive. That being said, Faye Wong has a magical voice, and Eyes On Me is a classic pop song for me.

I have some Indian music - #Raga and some pop - as well as some Cambodian #Psychedelic in my collection.

I'm also interested in music using the sitar, oud, erhu and other such instruments.

Ended Wednesday and welcomed Thursday after a swim with Jazz Meets India by Dewan Motihar Trio, The Irene Schweizer Trio, Manfred Schoof, Barney Wilen released on SABA in 1967.

"This 1967 release, another exploratory J.E. Berendt production, combines a classical Indian trio of sitar, tambura, and tabla with jazz piano trio and two horns striding in between. Sitar player Dewan Motihar leads the Indian trio. A star on All-India Radio, Motihar journeyed to London where he worked on the sound tracks to the Beatle’s “Help”, and with Herbie Hancock on Antonioni’s iconic film “Blow Up”. The Swiss pianist Irene Schweizer has been one of the top European players for years...The three pieces are originals, all based on ragas, classical Indian scales each of which are based on a particular mood, occasion, time of day, year, etc..."
