I just got a great ruler … or rather “print viewer”. Makes it much easier to *sift* data that came off a line printer when you didn’t have paper with alternating green and white bars. #trs80 #tandy #radioshack

Heh, I remember Service Merchandise, although it wasn't my favorite.
I think my favorite was BEST, but earlier, Toys'R'Us, because they always had an epic computer section. ;)
Also, I seem to recall the Dillards in Austin had cool toys and robots and stuff.

Also, who could forget #RadioShack. 😥

This was totally going to be a SilentSunday post, but this gets to have words attached.
After seeing that the last open store in this shopping center is closing in a couple weeks, I knew I had to finally go take a photo of this relic of the past before it was torn down.
While taking a couple shots, an older lady came walking up to me from the one open store, and started talking to me about the past, architecture, and photography. We spent 15 minutes just chatting, and she dropped the names of some of the local photography groups that I should check out.
Despite being closed for a decade, this store managed to make one last connection happen.

I learned by listening to the #GordonWest cassette series from #RadioShack. When I took my tests, I think the license I got was called Tech Plus, or something like that.

I passed the 5wpm test, and they talked me into taking the 13wpm test. Somehow, I passed it, so at least I didn't have to take another code test for a while.

I never really could do #CW until I got on the air. There was a #Novice portion of #40m, and I hung out there, and it all worked
