Deinococcus radiodurans is pretty darn cool. It just won't die. Radiation and the vacuum of space, even acid poured directly on it, it doesn't care.

We would like to be able to use the genetics of this amazing microbe, but its genome is hard to edit.

Now, University of Western Ontario scientists have developed SLICER specifically for editing D. radiodurans.
