The antidote is deliberate self-awareness: treat feedback as a mirror, pause before reacting, and ask, “What part of this is mine to own?” This shift—from defense to discovery—builds credibility, fosters trust, and drives meaningful improvement. #RadicalCandor #FeedbackLoop #Emberhart https://podcasts.apple.com/fi/podcast/emberhart-podcast/id1784530203?l=fi&i=1000722637398

We had the Radical Candor folks come and visit the tech start up that I worked at a while back. It's an absolute grift designed to sell sand to the nomads, if the nomads are tech bros, and the sand is "being an arsehole".
it essentially insist on dismissing the value of personality, of different cultures, of different mental approaches, in favour of the loudest arsehole in the room.
Data and facts are just whomever can shout the loudest.
Don't buy into it.

Erf.
I've started to read 'radical candor" by Kim Scott because of so much praise, and a couple of pages in, so many things feel wrongs about it.

I think the root cause is pretty obvious (I will see if it's addressed at some point in the book, but if not, wow), and it's just that the author seems to take as a founding hypothesis a hierarchical, top down power structure.

Even worse: in the context of silicon valley late capitalism.

With examples from Google, Apple or Microsoft. I'll not sure what hyoe bonus point that got in 2017 (that was already a decade late at least to doubt the evilness of even the youngest of them), but let's say it didn't age well.

I will try to use a bit more of radical candor before giving up. But I'm re-reading shadowrun books in parallel, and... Well it seems that radical candor explores late capitalism as well as them.

It might also be because I'm knee-jerk not a boss.

Reading through Radical Candor, and I wish I read it earlier.

While it's geared towards leaders it is still applicable to all. We are all leaders at some level. You might be a leader for your family, friends, etc. Even if you think you aren't right now there is a good chance that you'll will end up being a leader at some point, and the point book offers good advice on how to handle situations as a leader.
