Tulip

A pink and hazy orange tulip in the early morning. The dew drops were the icing on the cake. I intentionally brought my camera with macro lens on my way to work, for chances like this.

Petten

Yesterday evening, the tide promised to be perfect for this particular spot. Cloud coverage also looked promising on paper. But then, things still need to actually fall into place. And fall into place they did. What an evening! There were already three other photographers when I got here, and we all had an absolute blast.

Snake's Head

The time is here again for these fragile spring flowers, officially called Fritillaria meleagris, which bloom in purple, white, and a mix of those two colours. While wild species will need some more time to come to bloom, cultivated ones can be found in multiple places already.

Drawn

When I recently cycled through my hometown, I came across this spot. I knew the spot, as I did the view from the bridge on the left. But standing on the quay, looking back towards the bridge and the houses behind it, I was immediately drawn by this composition. That the sky had just started to colour gently was a nice bonus.

Serene

This morning started wonderfully serene. The sunrise was beautiful and there was only the sound of waves and birds around me. Yesterday evening I had decided to go to this iconic white lighthouse on the peninsula Marken, seeing how the chances were good that there was going to be colour in the sky this morning. It was a long time ago that I had last been here, and it felt good to be back here once more. Especially with conditions like these.

Amsterdam Light Festival

One of the more interesting light art installations at this year's ALF. It's called Metamorfaunes and depicts several Dutch icons, including a mermaid version of Vermeer's girl with the pearl earring.

Receding Autumn

The penultimate week of November, autumn was clearly on its way out, although there were still some trees and branches that showed some beautiful fall colours. This spot stood out to me, when I visited the always beautiful Speulderbos in the Veluwe National Park. The reddish carpet of fallen leaves on the forest floor, the different shades of orange, yellow and green leaves in the background, plus the bright green moss on the trees in the foreground, made that I really wanted to photograph this scene. Even though I had really hoped there would have been some fog that morning, it was beautiful either way.

Sunset

Yesterday, we finally had a good sunset again. That had been some time, or so it felt. So as soon as I saw yellow, orange and pink in the sky, I cycled to one of my go-to spots in my hometown. This is one of the shots I took.

Last Colours
