I love travelling to new places, but for various reasons, I have not been able to travel to a new country, or even outside of North America for at least 11 years.

In a few months, I will finally have the opportunity to visit a new place: Japan. This has been kind of a lifelong dream for me, and I'm excited and a bit nervous.

If anyone has any suggestions, beyond the basics which I think I have pretty much covered, feel free to share here.

I would especially appreciate suggestions of nice bookshops, cafés, restaurants, neighbourhoods to walk in (I will be mainly staying in Tokyo and Osaka). Thanks all!
