“Heterosexuality isn’t normal, it’s just common.”

Derek Jarman’s inspiring intervention to #queer and question and to overturn the hegemonic ossified assumptions in society.

In every #regime of #hegemony, there is often some degree of #consent [to hegemony] #manufactured on the part of the oppressed.

Questioning the #binaries in #power-laden structures, and queering the analytical frames in #politics and global governance, are necessary, e.g., when the oppressed or an #alleged opposition becomes an #accomplice of the oppressor.

Benno Gammerl and Kim König: Queer Perspectives

A #queering #lens interrupts unjust unchecked ossified #assumptions, disinformation, hegemonic binaries, and opens up new, #democratic, ways of seeing. Queering is a gerund verb, direct action, a liberatory praxis of solidarity and unpacking #structures made invisible by historical and contemporary #hegemony.
