A fuzzy shape. Like the shape of a man, and yet — not. Man sized, almost six feet tall from his vantage point. There was something unnerving about the shape. The edges seemed to wriggle, giving it a fuzzy appearance.

If you're in the mood for a Solarpunk western, try Echoes Through the Mountains.

"Cut off from civilization by landslides, Moffat County isn't exactly a beacon of thriving futurity. There's no Internet, no functioning power grid, and almost no people, following a mass exodus of anyone and everyone with the means to leave. Even the drones don't bother to land in this forgotten little corner of Colorado anymore.

The isolation suits Raine Bartlett just fine; all she wants is to be left alone. Alone with her thoughts, with her books, with her chickens and goats and a mule named Pauly... not to mention her hoard of goods stolen from the massive e-commerce and technology company DataLess, Inc. As the best shot on the Western Slope, if there's anyone left to keep track of such things, Raine has put her skills to good use, knocking down transcontinental shipping drones with her muzzle-loading flintlock and a handful of buckshot so she can steal their contents and run. It's not a hard life, nor is it an honest one, but it gets her through the days, and that's all she needs.

Until one day, while out hunting, Raine is interrupted by something strange: a child named Sparrow. Tiny and androgynous and of indeterminate age, with a dark past they're reluctant to share and the impressively irritating ability to mimic any sound they hear, Sparrow has been walking for 30 miles, more or less, just to get here. They are on a mission: find Radio Echo, the mysterious voice from the sky who broadcasts music 24/7 at 1320 kHz, and help save what's left of the nearby town from an impending DataLess invasion.

And maybe watch a couple movies when they're done. They've never seen one before, but rumor has it that Echo, a solar-powered techno guru hidden away on top of a mountain, owns every movie ever made."

She built her voice across years, low and easy, the way you set a temperament — one careful note leaned into the next. The worst of it: her throat closing over the bare idea of using it in front of them. "Unison" is about the instrument you make by hand being taken off you in a crowded car.

If you're in the mood for a young adult dystopian fantasy hacker sci-fi, try Wild Things.

"Sometime in the near future, four teens are living through every day dystopia, perpetuated by ecological collapse and mass extinction. Each has a unique connection to nature; a connection which will prove useful as they find themselves embroiled in fossil fuel conspiracies and corporate corruption."

If you're in the mood for some young adult strange fantasy romance, try roach: a love story.

"A cockroach awakes one morning to find themselves transformed into a monstrous human. This is only the first in a series of increasingly disconcerting events for the now human teenager. It will not be long before Roach has firsthand knowledge of many aspects of the human experience, including: broken bones, broken hearts, bigotry and sadness; but also: Love, which in humans comes in many forms. So, that's nice, but will love be enough to make it all worth it?"
