Again, I want to reiterate my love for how the #SteamDeck and now the #SteamMachine will bring back the market for older, beloved games. There isn’t a better platform for playing something like #Quake or #DeusEx than the consoles #Valve made, and they’re extremely accessible via the #SteamSale or something else.

What’s more is the work they’ve put into #Proton, a free platform for making #Linux, a free OS the perfect #gaming platform.

Today's the 30th anniversary of the release of id software's Quake, a game I've played a lot of over the years, especially in college. We had decent PCs in my college's computer labs, and they all came with new-fangled Zip drives. It was trivial to stick the shareware version of WinQuake on a Zip disk, fire it up during class, and play a few rounds over the super-fast college network. I was not very good at it when I first started. I had no idea how one could aim with a mouse. I did eventually learn how to rocket jump, though. #krita #quake #retrogaming #furryart #rabbit #dog
