Every ham remembers their first official contact. For me, it was the man who “pestered” me into the hobby: my husband. Being able to log him as my first-ever contact was a moment of immense pride. I got into this to share a hobby with him, and suddenly, we were finally on the air together.

My latest POTA activation, from a couple of weeks back.

This is one of my favorite aspects of the hobby, and I do love an excuse to sit around in the woods like a lunatic 😂

I use a Xiegu G106 and a EFHW "Spooltenna" for most of my activations. I like to run QRP because of the diminutive size of the equipment, and the runtime I can get out of a very small battery.

SSB on 5 watts gets it done, albeit at a slower pace 😀
