Since we are a 100% Linux home now, I figured it might be a good idea to switch NAS-file shares to NFS ... and it is. It seems directory browsing is much faster.
I am unsued to the concept though. As in my QNAP you can only assign one right, either read or read/write to the hosts. So if one shall be able read and the other able to write, it does not work out. I think UI is bad here, right? Either because I do not understand how to set this up or it is not possible.
Also that it is hostname/IP based makes it kind of convenient to setup. But wouldnt this be easy to spoof? Lets say a share is only accessible by a distinct IP, I have no control who grabs this IP? Or if a PC is offline another could say hey I am PCx and grab that hostname?
Probably both can be addressed when configuring thorugh a good UI or by config files? Or do I need to setup a central user logon for this to work? (this maybe would increase complexity by far for home)
