A maintainer I saw when I was up at #PyCascades clearly just cursed me because we were talking about how our respective Python packages haven’t been targeted by agents yet.

Well I think that’s over now that I’ve got 4 PRs opened in the last hour without any context or hey, I’d like to contribute.

These packages need a lot of work before they can be release ready, but the infrastructure for building, testing, and publishing them cross-platform is getting very close.

Thanks to feedback from yesterday's #PyCascades sprints, we also have a lot more insight into what barriers new contributors hit, and have some ideas on how to improve docs to help.

This is finally starting to come together, and I love it.

Static linkage into extension modules is especially huge for Arcalibre when it comes to PDF support. The PoDoFo PDF manipulation library is used throughout Calibre, but it's a nontrivial runtime dependency. Thanks to @ddelemeny's amazing work, and to help from https://codeberg.org/mvanderkamp during #PyCascades sprints yesterday, pydofo eliminates the runtime dependency on PoDoFo by using static linkage instead.

#PyCascades SPRINTS! Didn't know I would literally be sprinting for my train, but had an amazing time with folks today sprinting on @team working on some hairy python + CPP on Mac issues πŸ˜…

But WE FIXED IT FAM! I really love working with folks like this, everyone's experiences helped everyone get unblocked much faster ❀️ And yes at some point I'll get better at 'pdb' πŸ˜†

Thanks again to everyone who organized PyCascades for another fabulous year πŸ’œπŸ’–

Gotta leave Vancouver early this morning but had a lovely time at #PyCascades.

Trying to follow a bunch of #PyCascades people

Haven’t gone, really want to make it happen πŸ”œ

And thanks to everyone who helped in making this an incredible event! #PyCascades
