fyi i haven't played the dlcs at all, so this is just a review for the base game. i love this!! this is an investigative mystery in its purest form, and i love that each "level" isn't entirely self contained, and you need to keep in mind the things you learned in past levels to deduce that happened in the present level. i think in general the story was pretty good, but i would have given it an 8/10 if it wasn't for a revelation in the final level that completely gagged me, had me slack-jawed mouth agape at how i fucking missed it. very much looking forward to checking out the dlcs and the sequel too

i love the puzzles in this, i love the ingenuity of it all, and the "aha!" moments that you get when you figure out a rule or a solution are amazing!! i think all of the different rules in this are really interesting, and i loved the challenge (even though it made me want to cave my own head in at times)

however, you can really tell the creator is kind of a douche, just based on the videos littered through the game, as if he's preaching to you about knowledge and learning, and honestly it took away from the game. the puzzles are all generally kinda abstract as well, and maybe this game could have done with some more worldbuilding, more lore, instead of every part of the world serving the singular purpose of being part of the puzzle - i know its probably the dev's artistic choice, they could have chosen differently.

so while i did really enjoy this, and i do feel satisfied having completed it, i think there is a lot that could be improved about it to warrant it getting a higher score from me
