The US Naval Blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, if it actually happens, will not only make oil prices go up again, but also make it harder for countries like China and India to buy Iranian oil, so there will be an obvious temptation to buy more Russian oil to make up for it.
So Putin will find it easier to sell oil as well as get a better price for it.
I wonder if that was the main motivation behind the blockade?
