It would be a good discovery tool as well, as often the other bands playing shows with bands I’m interested would have a high chance of being something I’d be interested in as well, because at least _one person_ thought they’d be a decent fit on the bill for one reason or another.

Seems like a solvable problem that wouldn’t require some megacorp to figure out a way to extract value from both artists and attendees.

I just want to “follow” an artist and be able to know when they announce a show in my area. I _dont_ need to hear about a show they’re paying in Sydney Australia.

I’d like to be able to visualize all upcoming shows in my area for all musicians I’m interested in in a list view as well as a calendar view.

It sure seems like a gap. I can join a zillion mailing lists, check local venue websites daily, follow every musicians social media feeds, check show listings in local alt-weeklies and various local show calendars, look for flyers at cool cafes/record stores/etc but it would be completely overwhelming and I’d still miss out.
