Today on #PunkChristmas -
Die Roten Rosen's rendition of "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht," from their holiday album "Wir Warten Aufs Christkind." It is a #punk cover of one of the oldest and most recorded Christmas songs - originating from Salzburg back to 1818 when Franz Xaver Gruber wrote the music to the text by Joseph Mohr.
This version, by none other than the legendary Die Toten Hosen from Düsseldorf (under their festive alias), is especially amusing because it flips "Silent Night" - typically a soft, peaceful carol - into a lively punk song, full of energy and... well, far from silent.
