A #Puffling! There weren't many young #Puffins to be seen when I visited Skomer a month ago—nearly all stayed in their burrows, safe from marauding Gulls. Occasionally though, one would emerge for a bit of wing-stretching and flapping.

By now the Pufflings are all gone, having left their burrows at night to avoid predation and jumped down into the sea below. Around 75% or more of them will make it to five years old, at around which age they pair up and start breeding.
