"Structuring PubMed Content into Knowledge Graphs for Enhanced Biomedical Intelligence"

This dissertation introduces the Genomic Literature Knowledge Base (GLKB), a large-scale biomedical knowledge graph curated from over 33 million PubMed articles. GLKB supports retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) methods that improve factuality and reduce hallucination.

abstracts from 2010 to 2024 indexed by #PubMed & show how the appearance of #LLMs led to an abrupt increase in the frequency of certain style words. This excess word analysis suggests that at least 13.5% of 2024 abstracts were processed with LLMs
Lower bounds differed between subcorpora
Given these potential explanations for the heterogeneity in the lower bound of #LLM use for #scientificediting, our results indicate widespread usage in most #PubMed-indexed fields, countries, journals, including the most prestigious ones. We argue that the true LLM usage in biomedical publishing may be closer to the highest lower bounds we observed, as those may be corpora where LLM usage is the most naïve & the easiest to detect.

I am sure there are other projects attempting the same. However, it's very unlikely Pubmed is going to exist in four years' time. It looks very difficult to do science in the USA at the moment; you're not allowed to present data if Trump doesn't like it. Unfortunately that's not how science, engineering, nature or anything actually work. So a non-USA Pubmed is going to become essential pretty quickly. Anyone know any other projects, please link. #pubmed

A l'ordre du jour (je reprends la newsletter de la ZBMed) : "We are currently working on a website that will transparently show the changes made by #PubMed so that any doubts about content can be checked directly. Since this day, PubMed is only carrying out the normal revisions that are customary for a database (corrections and additions to data records)"
