A masterclass in resisting tech bro colonialism -or any new form of resource extraction: A Dutch coalition of scientists and civil society is pushing back against AI hype, deregulation, and monopolies.

5 core principles:

1. Value knowledge and expertise; distinguish hype from science.

2. AI should not receive special treatment in legislation (e.g., no IP rights rollbacks).

3. Promote economic viability and ensure added value for everyone.

4. Reduce energy/water/land use; recognize harmful impacts.

5. Involve civil society in policymaking.
