Power companies win challenge over Texas transmission line law

Companies outside of Texas that don't have transmission lines in Texas can now do business in Texas, per a federal judge's ruling.

According to the suit, "NextEra alleged that SB 1938 was unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause because it discriminates against interstate commerce on its face, in effect, and in purpose."

#California's notoriously docile #PublicUtilitiesCommission voted 4-0 to allow a new fixed #fee on bills for energy. State #regulators OK'd new monthly "#utility fee" up to $24 on top of already climbing residential #ElectricBills.

The fee restructuring is expected to raise bills of up to 4 million customers statewide of Pacific #Gas & #Electric, Southern California Edison and San Diego #Gas & Electric.

#PublicUtility Commissioner Darcie Houck said “This is a relatively modest charge." #PGE say the fixed #charge will supposedly reduce the per-kilowatt cost of #electricity for all customers and help subsidize greener energy production.

Perfectly normal for a public utility to roll out new #termsandconditions that revoke class action lawsuits from the public, limit the liability of the public utility, collect more data that may or may not include data on children, etc. Top it that all off with no ability to opt out, unless you cancel your electricity. This is fine.
